Dr. Rosen and his girlfriend Liza Vismanos made a large fortune running Wellness Wave, a surgical center in Beverly Hills. Vismanos also owned Lotus Laboratories, a toxicology lab in Los Alamitos. In just a few years authorities report they billed insurance companies $676 million for medical procedures and tests.

They paid “body brokers” or “junkie hunters” -- usually recovering users -- who recruited other addicts for unneeded medical procedures. Those recruiters got kickbacks of some $12 million, according to the DA.

“The procedures take me less than 5 minutes. So, on an hourly that would be about 120K. LOL” Rosen wrote in a text message to one of his body brokers.

Rosen and Visamanos are charged with dozens of felony counts of insurance fraud and related crimes. Rosen remain in Orange County Jail.

Victims of the descendants are demanding that murder charges be proffered. The DA found a disturbing trend of fraud and death on the purported “Rehab Rivera” addiction recovery schemes. The DA also found a group of body brokers trolling Orange County sober living homes, offering cash to recovering addicts with good insurance.

One patient was paid $1,200 for getting an implant and agreeing to complain of back pain to justify a cortisone injection. Her insurance company was billed $87,000.

Rosen had to pay more to his body brokers because of competition from another facility, Sober Life which was paying more for leads.
