Cyclist Gets Hit by Reversing Vehicle
Called a "baby"
Musical artist and server Erica Landsberg, stopped to fix her tire chain. Erica was facing the street with her back to a driveway as she attempted to fix the chain. Defendant driving a Lexus SUV backed into Erica, crushing her on top of her bike and under the SUV and dragging her two feet across the street.
Erica suffered knee, ankle, neck, spine, emotional distress and PTSD. Dr. Richard Gonsolus DC, Bellflower put this case together and worked with 2 ortho surgeons, plus an accident recon PhD.
The defendants were not too kind and accused Erica of lying and taunted her with acting like a 'baby'. They offered no help. The Jury found for Erica, but penalized her with causing 10% of the accident. Still the award was a net of $173,515.

Researchers at Johns Hopkins claim that despite efforts to improve surgical safety, 40,044 "never events" occur in the US each year. A "never event" should never happen in modern medicine, like operating on the wrong patient, yet the researchers state this is a growing problem.
